The meeting was called to order by Commissioner Larry Lee at 1:40p.m. A quorum was present.

New Business
- David Beaupre, Port of San Francisco Senior Waterfront Planner presented a report on the Port’s Planning and Development employment related activities including community outreach, use of First Source Hiring and construction projects. The latter include the Brannan Street Wharf, the Bryant Street Piers, the Ferry Building Rehabilitation , the Hotel at Broadway and Embarcadero, Piers 1 ½ - 5, Piers 27-31 Recreation project, and Rincon Park Restaurants. Mr. Beaupre shared with the Committee an example of how the Port uses a tracking system to meet hiring goals in the trucking industry. HRC staff onsite at the Port track MBE/LBE trucker usage and will be available to report on their activities in early 2004.
- Derrick Carr, AAA Manager of Staffing and Retention presented a report on legal and illegal employment interview questions. Mr. Carr conducted a test of Committee members’ knowledge of the legality or illegality of a number of commonly used interview questions and explained why each was legal or illegal when gathering information about an applicant.
