Call to Order/Roll Call
The meeting was called to order by Commissioner Larry Lee at 1:40p.m. A quorum was present.
Approval of Agenda
It was m/s/c to adopt the agenda.

It was m/s/c/ to adopt the minutes.
Staff Report
Informational Items
1. Three people will now staff the Committee: Linda Chin, Kabir Hypolite and Mary Gin Starkweather.
2. A Joint Hearing of the Human Rights Commission and the SF Board of Supervisors' Social Policy Committee on "Backlash, Violence, Human Rights Violations & Discrimination in the Wake of September 11, 2001" was held on January 10, 2002.
3. The final Rules and Regulations implementing the San Francisco Minimum Compensation Ordinance have been adopted.
New Business
1. Mr. Ed McCray, Jobs and Careers Librarian, gave a presentation on the services, programs and classes offered by the Jobs and Careers Resource Center at the Civic Center Main Branch of the San Francisco Public Library.
2. Mr. Michael Greenberg, Attorney, gave a presentation regarding the use of arrest and conviction information and records in employment processes.
Old Business
1. It was m/s/c that a letter of concern regarding the discriminatory effects of section 111 of the Aviation and Transportation Security Act (ATSA) to Norman Y Mineta, Secretary, U.S. Department of Transportation, be forwarded to the full Commission for adoption. Dr. Jose Gonzales, Commissioner and Mr. Dang T. Pham, Director, of the San Francisco Immigrant Rights Commission expressed their desire to have the letter sent jointly from both Commissions. Section 111 of ATSA requires that airport screeners be U.S. citizens.
Public Comment
Ms. Ellen Starbird spoke about a discrimination case currently pending against a shipping line at the Port of Oakland.
Announcements
The HRC is soliciting letters of interest from persons who wish to serve on the advisory committees for the new upcoming term.
