Webinar: Ban the Box and More

Are you interested in learning the role city and county agencies can play in laws to reduce employment barriers for persons with arrest and conviction records?  Would you like to increase the effectiveness of your city’s existing “ban the box” or “fair chance” law?  Join the Seattle Office of Civil Rights, the San Francisco Human Rights Commission and the District of Columbia’s Office of Human Rights for an exploration of enforcement strategies.

Panelists will share best practices for robustly enforcing these laws despite challenges including limited budgets and “tough on crime” political agendas. From the government agency perspective, learn about strategies for stakeholder management, proactive compliance, effective community-based outreach and data collection. Panelists will present for one hour.  After the hour, panelists will take questions from audience members who wish to participate in the additional 30 minute segment designated for Q&A.

This webinar is hosted by the National Employment Law Project and the National League of Cities. For publications on this topic featuring the strategies discussed, see Best Practices in Fair-Chance Enforcement and Fair-Chance Implementation Case Studies for Government Agencies.
