Sanctuary City

The Human Rights Commission (HRC) is the department of the City and County of San Francisco charged with enforcing Chapter 12H of the Administrative Code, the Sanctuary City Ordinance. The Sanctuary City Ordinance states, in part, that no City department, agency, commission, officer or employee may use city funds or resources to assist in enforcing federal immigration law, nor may they gather or disseminate information regarding the immigration status of individuals in the City.

The HRC investigates violations of Chapter 12H and maintains updated department protocols to implement the Sanctuary City Ordinance.
